About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Protection Lawyer to join our team at KPMG UK. As a Data Protection Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the growth of our Data Protection team in our Commercial Legal department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist clients in developing data protection strategies and advising on compliance with data protection laws, including rules around marketing.
  • Support clients with data protection elements of their transformation programs, including group restructuring, outsourcing, and large-scale technology programs.
  • Advise on data ethics and provide expert guidance on complex data protection compliance issues.
  • Assess problems from multiple angles to ensure clients have comprehensive and pragmatic data protection advice to support their decision-making.
  • Work collaboratively to devise and drive forward creative legal solutions for clients.
  • Provide clients with a seamless multi-disciplinary legal implementation service on national and global projects.
Requirements
  • At least 4 years of PQE as a data protection/commercial lawyer with experience advising on compliance with data protection laws.
  • Experience in advising clients on complex data protection compliance issues, including reporting on GDPR/DPA compliance, drafting information notices, and assessing joint controller status.
  • Ability to liaise with the ICO on behalf of clients who have received a complaint from a data subject or the ICO.
  • Strong client relationship and business development skills, with a keenness to develop these skills further.
