CareersBU is a part of the Student Services directorate, providing a wide range of careers and employability support to BU students and graduates. This includes one-to-one appointments, webinars, workshops, an extra-curricular skills program, careers fairs, online resources, and more. Our mission is to help students develop their skills, gain experience, and make informed career decisions.

This role involves engaging students and graduates with the service through digital and face-to-face approaches, with the objective of introducing more students to CareersBU. This is an exciting opportunity to design and deliver new approaches to student engagement at a time when employability has never been more important. We aim to be a proactive service that makes thinking about your career accessible and unintimidating.

The role will focus on increasing engagement with segments of the student population who currently do not use the CareersBU service for various reasons. There will be a focus on developing engaging content, including social media, video, and case studies. The postholder will recruit and supervise up to 5 student Careers Champions, each working 5-10 hours per week. Our Champions are current BU students who create content, allowing us to use students' voices in our marketing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to increase student engagement with CareersBU services
  • Design and deliver engaging content, including social media, video, and case studies
  • Recruit and supervise student Careers Champions
  • Collaborate with the CareersBU team to develop and deliver careers and employability support
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of student engagement initiatives

Requirements:

  • Experience in creating engaging digital content, such as videos, social media, and website content
  • Confidence in engaging with students from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of careers and employability support services
