Job Description

Job Title: Senior Credit Sanctioner

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Credit Sanctioner to join our Real Estate Credit Team at Barclays International UK Corporate Bank. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for sanctioning credit proposals, identifying adverse trends in client credit profiles, and ensuring timely referrals to Watchlist/Special Asset Management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sanctioning Credit Proposals: Approve or reject credit proposals within your delegated discretion, and present to higher-level sanctioners when necessary.
  • Client Credit Profile Analysis: Identify adverse trends in client credit profiles and recommend corrective actions.
  • Watchlist/Special Asset Management: Ensure timely referrals to Watchlist/Special Asset Management to mitigate potential credit risks.
  • Portfolio and Management Information: Provide portfolio and management information to support the team's decision-making process.
  • Liaising with Support Functions: Liaise with support functions such as Portfolio, Legal, Compliance, and Lending Operations to ensure seamless credit sanctioning process.
  • Credit-Focused Client Calls and Meetings: Attend credit-focused client calls and meetings to maintain effective relationships with key business and risk stakeholders.
  • Strategic and Systems Changes: Support strategic and systems changes to enhance process efficiency and regulatory compliance.
  • Project Work: Contribute to projects aimed at improving risk culture and engagement, including mentoring, personal development, and colleague recognition.

Requirements:

  • Corporate Credit Analysis Skills: Possess corporate credit analysis skills with considerable analytical and numerical abilities to challenge and structure proposals.
  • Proven Credit Sanctioning Experience: Have proven credit sanctioning experience, particularly with ordinary office-type applications.
  • Real Estate Sector Experience: Have experience in credit sanctioning within the real estate sector, recognizing its differences from corporate sanctioning.
