Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at National Nuclear Laboratory. As a key member of our Engineering team, you will play a critical role in delivering innovative solutions that drive engineering excellence.
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the production of design deliverables, including drawings, reports, and calculations, to agreed standards of safety, cost, quality, and time. You will also provide advice and guidance on issues related to your discipline, keep abreast of developments in your field, and develop the skills of others for the benefit of the company.
Main Responsibilities:
- Design and develop mechanical systems and components to meet project requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design deliverables meet project objectives.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and drafting resources.
- Contribute to the development and application of technical and managerial processes and systems in your work area.
- Comply with all legislative, regulatory, and company policy standards and processes applicable to the role.
Essential Criteria:
- Graduate degree in a relevant engineering discipline with demonstrable design office experience.
- Familiarity with the application of engineering theory in your discipline.
- Familiarity with drawing practice in your discipline.
- Working knowledge of national and international codes, specifications, and standards.
- Working knowledge of 3D CAD systems, preferably Inventor/Vault.
- Ability to obtain SC level security clearance.
Desirable Criteria:
- Familiarity with engineering design stages and processes, including design reviews and HAZOPs.
