Nuclear Construction Project Site Leadership Opportunity

Location: Sizewell, Suffolk

Competitive Salary: £85,000 - £110,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Project Engineer to lead our site operations in the delivery of complex construction projects within the UK's nuclear industry.

This is a challenging yet rewarding role that will involve monitoring project delivery, identifying risks and opportunities, and working closely with key stakeholders to optimise project outcomes.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant company processes and protocols, as well as leading the delivery of construction works and reviewing contractor documents as delegated by the Project Manager.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Monitor project progress, identifying areas for improvement and collaborating with stakeholders to drive optimal results.
  • Evaluate the constructability of proposed designs, ensuring that Design teams produce feasible and efficient solutions within agreed timelines.
  • Oversee construction activities, guaranteeing adherence to established processes and procedures.
  • Assess and approve contractor documentation as delegated, fostering strong relationships with vendors and partners.
  • Contribute to the development and support of supervisory and engineering staff, as well as participate in project steering groups and cross-functional action teams when necessary.
  • Perform site surveys, engaging with designers to ensure seamless collaboration.
  • Review and validate drawings, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Promote a culture of Zero Harm, prioritising safety throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Implement systems and processes for Right First-Time approach, driving operational excellence.
  • Oversight of Handover Documentation for Sections, guaranteeing comprehensive and accurate records.
  • Influence operational target programs to reflect overall construction objectives.
  • Maintain close communication with off-site functions for knowledge sharing and best practices.

A senior team is required to develop and lead critical aspects crucial to delivering safe and compliant Nuclear context works, including establishing complementary systems, processes, and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Strong background in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) services, with practical understanding of associated disciplines.
  • HNC/HND qualifications in Electrical or C&I discipline (advantageous but not essential).
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience managing complex construction operations, including phasing, contingency planning, testing, and handover.
  • Substantial H&S Management expertise, encompassing method statements, accident/incident investigation, and proficiency in HSE and CDM legislation.
  • High numeracy skills, accompanied by strong commercial awareness and technical knowledge.
  • Effective leadership and management abilities, with a collaborative style.
  • Strong work ethic, with ability to work effectively within a growing project team.
  • Decision-making acumen and excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with capacity to provide expert technical guidance.
