Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our team at the University of Bristol. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the project's Principal Investigator and Co-Investigators in a research project focused on the impact of a pesticide ban on pollinator communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct fieldwork on the island of Guernsey and neighboring islands, including data collection and sample preparation.
  • Work closely with a team of volunteers, including training and coordination.
  • Prepare insect samples for barcoding and identification, and buff-tailed bumblebee samples for genetic analysis.
  • Analyze data and prepare publications for submission to peer-reviewed journals.
Requirements
  • PhD in a relevant field, such as ecology, entomology, or conservation biology.
  • Experience in research in community ecology, with a focus on insects and pollinators.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work with volunteers and coordinate large-scale projects.
  • Good time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Experience with molecular techniques, such as PCR and microsatellites, is desirable.
Desirable Skills
  • Knowledge of pesticides and their impact on biodiversity.
  • Understanding of Health and Safety requirements and risk assessments.
  • Full clean UK driving license.
