Financial Controller

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Management Accountant to support our UK operations.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare and present accurate and timely management accounts, including journal postings, accruals & prepayments, bank reconciliation, debtors and creditors control accounts.
- Support the Financial Controller in preparing the monthly management accounts within 10 business days of month end.
- Provide data, analysis, and insight as requested.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Maintain a fixed asset register with accurate recording and reporting.
- Ensure complete accuracy to minimize variance between annual management accounts and final statutory result.
- Develop and maintain an appropriate chart of accounts structure.
- Support statutory audits.
- Deliver the trial balance and all supporting documentation to our out-sourced accountant for timely preparation of the statutory accounts.
- Take responsibility for completing the annual audit within 3 months of each year end.
- Liaise with external auditors as required for audit planning and completion.
- Work alongside the Financial Controller to manage the accounts payable and accounts receivable personnel.
- Prepare quarterly VAT returns where required.
- Engage with external tax advisers for corporation tax filings and payments.
- Operate a strong financial control environment, designing or strengthening where necessary.
- Cover all areas, including but not limited to: payments, system reconciliations, assets, and daily bank reconciliations.
- Develop and update financial policies and procedures as necessary.
- Oversight of weekly payment run, ensuring correct process and control is adopted at all times, including approvals and authorisations.
- Assist in the completion of any ad-hoc projects as required.
- Several years of previous experience as a management accountant in industry.
- Significant experience of accounting software, including ideally SAGE 200.
- Preferred to have accounting qualification and strong performance in Maths educational results.
- Advanced excel skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Enthusiastic and positive.
- In-depth understanding of accounting principles.
- Ability to analyze and summarize complex information.
- Ability to work alone and be a self-starter.
- Must be able to successfully work to and within deadlines.
- Willingness to learn and develop your skill set.
