About the Role

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a full-time locum consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedics to join our team. The successful candidate will be based at the Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) in Telford and will have responsibilities at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) in Shrewsbury.

Main Responsibilities

The appointee will provide a specialty surgical service for patients with hip and knee disorders requiring hip and knee arthroplasty and revision surgery. They will also participate in a 1:8 on-call emergency rota for patients with musculo-skeletal trauma.

Key Requirements

  • MBBS, MBChB or equivalent medical qualification
  • Full Registration and a licence to practise with the General Medical Council (GMC)
  • Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on range of problems, both emergency and elective, within specialty, and in particular with musculoskeletal disorders of the lower limb
  • Subspecialty expertise in lower limb Surgery
  • Ability to teach clinical skills, teach and lecture on speciality
  • Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical problems
