Strategic Trading Director Wanted for Middle East Defence Project

A leading company in the defence sector is seeking an experienced General Manager - Defence to join their team in the Middle East. As a key member of the organisation, you will be responsible for overseeing all trading operations, ensuring compliance with industry regulations while driving strategic growth and profitability.

Your duties will include:
  1. Preparation and presentation of regular reports on trading performance and market conditions to executive leadership.
  2. Monitoring and managing trading budgets, forecasting financial performance and optimising resource allocation.
  3. Team Development:
    • Recruitment, training, and development of a skilled workforce, focusing on building local human capabilities within the defence sector.
    • Performance evaluation and provision of ongoing feedback and development opportunities for staff.
  4. Operational Oversight:
    • Oversight of daily trading operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Coordination with cross-functional teams to ensure project milestones and deliverables are met efficiently.
    • Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
    • Attendance at industry conferences and events to network and promote the company's capabilities and offerings.
  5. Project Management:
    • Execution of won tenders/projects, ensuring effective project management from initiation to closure.
    • Overseeing procurement of products and services for projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
    • Conducting post-deal evaluations to assess performance and identify lessons learned for future transactions.
    • Preparation and oversight of responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), ensuring alignment with corporate policies and strategic objectives.
    • Analysis of market trends and data to identify opportunities for growth and risk management.

Salary: This is a highly competitive role with an estimated annual salary range of $150,000-$200,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in military, Defence, Engineering or related field.
  • At least 15 years of senior-level experience in the trading sector within the defence industry.
  • Demonstrated success in leading teams and developing a skilled workforce focused on building local human capabilities in the defence sector.
  • Strong understanding of market dynamics, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards relevant to trading operations in the defence sector.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning and financial management.
  • Strong analytical skills to inform decision-making and identify growth opportunities.
  • Experience in managing projects from initiation to closure.
  • Proven capability in preparing and presenting performance reports.
