Job Title: Learning Support Assistant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our team at Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct support to students with SEND in and out of the classroom, ensuring their integration into class and promoting their social and academic skills.
  • Work with students individually or in groups, supporting their continued learning and successful reintegration into class, as directed by the Class Teacher and SENCO.
  • Establish a working partnership with students that models social interactions and improves their social and academic skills, raises their self-esteem, and provides small group opportunities for numeracy and literacy and other educational tasks.
  • Assist in keeping detailed records of students' behavior, attainment, and attendance in order to produce reports for meetings, half-termly reviews, or when required.
  • Support students' educational and physical needs, including personal care, and may from time to time be required to undertake other duties commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility defined in this job description.
