About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced National Officer to join our team at the Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS). As a key member of our Management Team, you will play a crucial role in contributing to the continued success of the Union.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the strategic development of the Union's policy objectives, including the PCS planning process.
  • Provide leadership in delivering the Union's bargaining, organising, campaigning, equality, learning, and digital objectives, with direct involvement in more complex or strategic areas.
  • Manage people and resources in allocated areas, ensuring that the work of the team is in line with the wider objectives of the Union.
  • Represent the PCS at external meetings, providing advice and guidance as required.
  • Monitor and report on issues and initiatives as requested, providing input into budgetary processes, including bid preparation, monitoring, and control.
Requirements
  • Experience of team leadership, people management, and development, including induction, work allocation, appraisal, and conduct.
  • Leading committees and teams, with a proven track record in industrial relations and negotiations.
  • Advocacy and representation, with a high level of project management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing training and continuing professional development, with a focus on staff development and equal opportunities.
  • Strong knowledge of employment rights, equality legislation, discrimination law, and working practices, with the ability to communicate effectively using written and oral channels.
