About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Pastoral Assistant to join our team at Acorn Care and Education. As a Pastoral Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the emotional and behavioural needs of our students.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage student behaviour, providing high-quality care and support for emotionally vulnerable young people.
- Work closely with the Pastoral Manager and Senior Leadership Team to maintain a consistent approach and service delivery to students.
- Practice with a high degree of competence, aiming to reduce barriers to education and independent social interaction, leading to all students achieving their potential.
- Coordinate all services in school to provide integrated provision for students.
- Work with specific students to develop their resilience and skills within lessons and around the site, improving their engagement in their own learning.
Requirements
- Ensure the consistent application of the School Behaviour Policy with the Pastoral Manager and Assistant Headteacher.
- Implement agreed strategies to manage and improve the behaviour of students, focused on key individuals.
- Monitor and analyse the behaviour of students using the online behaviour management system.
- Assist and manage the return of students back to the classroom.
- Provide an on-call response to support teaching and learning.
- Liaise with teaching staff to support teaching and learning.
- Support students in following the rules of the school, enforcing school behaviour expectations.
- Update School Behaviour Policy, in discussion with SLT, on at least an annual basis.
- Update students' Risk Assessments.
