About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our team at CMC Markets. As a key member of our Legal Team, you will play a critical role in delivering our business objectives and providing expert legal advice to our internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head of Legal and Senior Management Team in delivering CMC Markets' objectives
  • Provide litigation and dispute resolution advice to internal teams
  • Draft and negotiate commercial contracts, including client-facing terms of business, IT contracts, marketing contracts, and institutional agreements

Supporting the Legal Team

  • Contribute to the provision of a high-quality legal service to the CMC business
  • Liaise with global legal colleagues to ensure information sharing and collaboration
  • Monitor and track key legal and commercial risks
  • Monitor legal updates and share relevant information with the Legal Team
  • Identify and action process improvements within the Legal Team
  • Embrace new challenges and adopt a growth mindset regarding continuous professional development

Supporting Other Departments

  • Assist the Compliance Team with responses to complaints, financial promotions, and regulatory issues
  • Review marketing content with the Compliance Team
  • Assist the Operations Team with project work relating to the CMC trading platform
  • Assist the Institutional Team with preparing agreements and updating global legal advice and due diligence

International Outlook

  • Provide legal support and advice to CMC's overseas branches and offices
  • Ensure changes to CMC's terms of business globally are compliant with local regulation and law
  • Assist with the expansion of CMC's global businesses and cross-border considerations
  • Protect CMC's intellectual property rights worldwide and prevent IP infringements

Principle Accountabilities

  • Ensure legal risk is fully mitigated and legal issues are addressed in accordance with best practice
  • Manage external advisers to best effect, keeping costs to a minimum
  • Have a thorough understanding of the financial services industry and its issues

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a solicitor in England and Wales (or equivalent experience in other jurisdictions)
  • Prior litigation or dispute resolution experience or data privacy experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organisation, analytical, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
