Job Title: Consultant Psychiatrist - In-patients

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our in-patient team at Clock View Hospital, Liverpool. As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality medical care to patients on Dee ward, a female acute ward.

Clock View Hospital is a purpose-built adult mental health facility based in Walton, Liverpool, opened in 2015. The hospital has three acute adult wards: Alt (mixed ward), Dee (female), and Morris (male). Additionally, it houses Newton ward, a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), and an old age ward, Irwell.

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing medical leadership to the in-patient team
  • Carrying out comprehensive risk assessments and participating in the Trust's risk management processes
  • Providing verbal and written evidence to Mental Health Review Tribunals and Hospital Managers' hearings
  • Providing clinical/educational supervision to junior colleagues
  • Participating in undergraduate and postgraduate clinical teaching
  • Participating in the training of other disciplines

Person Specification
  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management
  • Additional clinical qualifications
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months
  • Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
  • Approved under S12 OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
  • In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
Transport
  • Holds and will use a valid UK driving licence OR provides evidence of proposed alternative
Clinical Skills, Knowledge & Experience
  • Excellent knowledge in specialty
  • Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge
  • Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
  • Makes decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others
  • Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service
Academic Skills & Lifelong Learning
  • Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training
  • Ability to work and lead team
  • Demonstrate commitment to shared leadership & collaborative working to deliver improvement
