About the Role

We are seeking an Advanced Visualisation Scientist to join our Data Solutions team within the Computing Division at UK Atomic Energy Authority. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in conducting research, development, and support roles covering diverse areas such as cloud computing, high-performance computing, algorithm development, artificial intelligence, advanced visualisation, and Exascale technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work in a team to support the development of Advanced visualisation tools and investigate novel approaches to improve visualisation and analytical capabilities for experiments on JET, MAST-U and other fusion devices.
  • Exploit modern tools and methods of visualisation in collaboration with HPC and AI experts.
  • Contribute to reporting results and outreach within and outside the organisation.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree or Doctorate in computational, mathematical, or physical sciences.
  • Experience in scientific visualisation background.
  • Experience in common visualisation frameworks like Kitware-Paraview, Omniverse, Blender, or Unity.
  • Experience in 3D modelling software such as Autodesk Maya, Blender, or 3ds Max.
  • Artistic and creative skills, with a strong portfolio demonstrating proficiency in 3D modelling, texturing, and environment design.
  • Experience in computer graphics, including knowledge of rendering techniques, shading languages, and graphics APIs (e.g., OpenGL, DirectX, Vulkan).
  • Experience with Python, C++, CUDA, or VTK.
  • Experience with visualisation-relevant data formats and proficiency in data conversion (e.g., VTK, VDB, USD, HDF5).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
