Role Overview

The University of Bedfordshire is seeking an ambitious Engineering Technician with workshop experience to join our dynamic team in the School of Computer Science and Technology (CST). As a key player in our Engineering department, you will work closely with our academic team to impart essential practical skills to our students, equipping them with the tools they need to succeed in their future careers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work primarily in our state-of-the-art Automotive and Mechanical Engineering workshops, guiding students and faculty members on the safe and effective utilization of our engineering facilities.
  • Maintain equipment to the highest standards to facilitate a smooth learning experience and cutting-edge research.
  • Collaborate closely with the School's Technical Services Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our laboratories spanning Computing and Electronic, Automotive, and Mechanical Engineering.
  • Engage with students in practical lab sessions, offering support as they undertake their project work.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Mechanical and Automotive Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
  • Possession of relevant professional certifications and qualifications will be viewed favourably.
  • Awareness of current health and safety legislation applicable to laboratory working.
