About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (tACP) to join our Stroke speciality at University Hospitals Southampton NHS Trust.

The Hyper Acute Stroke Unit (HASU) is a 13-bedded ward dedicated to the prompt treatment and management of stroke patients. We are also the regional mechanical thrombectomy centre for the Wessex region and are currently the fifth top mechanical thrombectomy service in the UK.

As a Trainee Advanced Practitioner (tACP), you will work in conjunction with the 4 pillars of Advanced Practice as outlined in the HEE Multi-professional Framework (2017): Clinical practice, Leadership and Management, Education, Research.

This is a training post in which the practitioner will deliver, under the supervision of an Advanced Clinical Practitioner or Designated Medical Practitioner (DMP), an advanced level of clinical practice within the speciality area.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Deliver advanced level of clinical practice within the speciality area.
  2. Work in conjunction with the 4 pillars of Advanced Practice.

You will need to have a high level of experience in acute clinical practice at band 5/6 Level/equivalent and have sound clinical knowledge whilst also demonstrating managerial and leadership abilities.

Person Specification
  • Registered Healthcare Professional on relevant part of NMC / HCPC register.
  • Completion of Healthcare Degree (or equivalent - Minimum 120 credits at L6 or evidence of Masters level study).
  • Committed and eligible for participation in and completion of MSc in area of speciality.
  • Evidence of on-going personal and professional development.
  • Basic keyboard skills with knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Significant Post Registration experience within chosen specialty.
  • Broad awareness of wider Trust initiatives / pressures.
  • Coaching/leadership experience.
  • Completion of HTPA Competencies.
  • Independent Non-Medical Prescribing Qualification.
  • ILS trained.
  • Evidence of ability to change or initiate practice.
  • Registered on MSc Pathway as an experienced practitioner.
  • Further study at Level 7 within relevant pathway.
  • Maths and English Level 2 or have recognised equivalence from the ENIC process.
