About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Data Scientist to join our team at Zopa, a leading consumer lending platform.

Job Description

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will be responsible for leading high-impact projects related to data and modelling across various topics such as credit risk, fraud detection, pricing, and customer engagement. You will own the full lifecycle of your project, including discovery, data curation and processing, feature engineering, model development, deployment, and monitoring. You will engage with senior stakeholders, influence critical business decisions, and drive direct impacts on our products and millions of customers.

You will work closely with product managers, analysts, data engineers, and software engineers to make progress on your project. Additionally, you will support other data scientists through knowledge sharing, code review, collaboration on common utilities, and analytical infrastructure.

A Day in the Life...
  • Lead high-impact projects related to data and modelling.
  • Own the full lifecycle of your project, from discovery to deployment.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders and influence business decisions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive project success.
  • Support other data scientists through knowledge sharing and collaboration.
About You

We are looking for a talented individual who is passionate about tackling real-world problems with data. You should have a proven track record of solving complex data problems and delivering business value. You should also be a scientist at heart, always curious and eager to learn, with an inquisitive mind to delve under the surface and challenge the status quo.

You should be a great communicator, able to influence decision-makers with insights from data, foster mutual understanding and trust with stakeholders of different perspectives, and be a team player, striving for the success of the team and collaborating with an open mind.

Requirements
  • Proven track record of solving complex data problems and delivering business value.
  • Excellent Python skills, with a good understanding of software engineering best practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of machine learning algorithms (logistic regression, random forest, gradient boosted trees, neural networks, k-means, etc.) and statistics (Monte Carlo, hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, maximum likelihood, bootstrap, Bayesian inference).
  • Working knowledge of Git, Docker, CI/CD, and REST API.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary of $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition, we provide flexible working arrangements, a hybrid remote-working policy, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
