About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Second Chef to join our team at Barchester Healthcare. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for assisting the Head Chef in creating nutritious and flavoursome menus that meet the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Chef in menu development and implementation
  • Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence
  • Work with fresh produce to deliver high-quality and wholesome dishes
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP and food safety regulations
  • Manage stock control and maintain a clean and efficient kitchen environment

Requirements:

  • City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent qualification in culinary arts
  • Experience of working with fresh seasonal food and creating menus that meet the needs of residents
  • Good understanding of nutrition and ability to create appetising and nutritious menus
  • Ability to work within budget and manage stock control
  • Confidence engaging with residents to create menus that meet their needs
