Your new company Hays Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with a Widnes-based primary school as they recruit a dedicated and committed teaching assistant to support a pupil in the reception class with complex and profound needs (dual diagnosis of ASD and non-verbal) that requires personal care/nappy changing. This is a long-term ongoing contract, with the potential to last for the full academic year.

Your new role will involve supporting a pupil in the reception class on a 1:1 basis who has a dual diagnosis of ASD and non-verbal. You will take a pupil-centred approach to their education, effectively managing their triggers and routine, and ensuring that all learning takes place in a safe, inclusive, and accessible learning environment. You will assess risks, triggers, behaviours, and their emotional state, and act as this child's main point of contact throughout the school day, meeting them at the school gate and walking them back to their grown-up at the end of the school day. You will also provide support during break and lunch times, and complete personal care/nappy changing as required.

What you'll need to succeed: to be considered for this role, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK and be passionate about supporting children with complex needs.
