Job Summary

CMC Markets is seeking a highly skilled Senior FIX Engineer to join our Institutional Core Services team. As a Senior FIX Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining ultra-low latency FIX APIs, handling distribution of real-time market data to customers, and providing on-call technical support outside UK office hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement ultra-low latency FIX APIs to provide connectivity to CMC's global multi-asset trading platform.
  • Handle distribution of real-time market data to customers, ensuring high levels of accuracy and reliability.
  • Handle order instructions across a variety of asset classes, including CFD, FX, cash equity, and advanced order strategies.
  • Utilize Java with specialized low latency programming and optimization techniques to build robust mission-critical systems.
  • Provide on-call technical support outside UK office hours to ensure seamless trading operations.

Requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of the FIX messaging protocol (version 4.4 and later).
  • Excellent knowledge of Java (21).
  • Understanding of low latency programming principles, including garbage reduction, lock and wait free algorithms, cache friendly algorithms, non-blocking I/O, unshared state, processor affinity, busy waiting.
  • Experience with Artio FIX engine.
  • Experience with Aeron Transport, Aeron Cluster.
  • Experience with Simple Binary Encoding (SBE).
  • Proven track record building robust mission-critical systems with a high degree of fault tolerance.
  • Passion for problem-solving and innovation.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience with automated unit and integration testing.
  • Experience with CI/CD.

Desirable Skills

  • Microservice design and implementation.
  • Java and Linux performance testing and optimization.
  • Good understanding of transport protocols TCP/IP, UDP.
  • Exposure to electronic trading systems and trading workflows.
