Senior FIX Engineer

CMC Markets is seeking a highly skilled Senior FIX Engineer to join our Institutional Core Services team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining ultra-low latency FIX APIs that provide connectivity to our global multi-asset trading platform.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement ultra-low latency FIX APIs using Java and specialized low latency programming techniques
  • Handle distribution of real-time market data to customers and handle order instructions across various asset classes
  • Utilize Java with low latency programming and optimization techniques to ensure high performance and reliability
  • Provide on-call technical support outside UK office hours
Requirements:
  • Excellent knowledge of the FIX messaging protocol (version 4.4 and later)
  • Excellent knowledge of Java (21)
  • Understanding of low latency programming principles, including garbage reduction, lock and wait free algorithms, cache friendly algorithms, non-blocking I/O, unshared state, processor affinity, busy waiting
  • Experience with Artio FIX engine, Aeron Transport, Aeron Cluster, and Simple Binary Encoding (SBE)
  • Proven track record building robust mission critical systems with a high degree of fault tolerance
  • Passion for problem solving and innovation
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience with automated unit and integration testing, CI/CD
Desirable Skills:
  • Microservice design and implementation
  • Java and Linux performance testing and optimization
  • Good understanding of transport protocols TCP/IP, UDP
  • Exposure to electronic trading systems and trading workflows
