About the Role

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and full-time SEN Teaching Assistant for a Specialist school in Gosport. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and experience supporting children with special educational needs, including autism and social-emotional challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide personalized support to students with a range of special educational needs, including autism and social-emotional challenges.
  • Work closely with teachers and fellow SEN staff to foster a positive, inclusive learning atmosphere.
  • Implement tailored strategies to encourage positive behaviour and active participation in learning activities.
  • Assist with behaviour management, helping to maintain a positive and supportive classroom environment.
  • Adapt your approach to meet each student's unique needs, ensuring they feel a sense of belonging and can thrive both academically and emotionally.
Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of behaviour management techniques.
  • Proven experience supporting children with special educational needs, including physical disabilities, language disorders, and autism spectrum disorders.
  • Relevant qualifications in early childhood education or special education.
  • Excellent communication skills with a strong ability to collaborate with families and other professionals.
  • A compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to working with children.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development in SEN strategies and best practices.
