We are seeking a skilled Garden Technician to join our team at the University of Dundee. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the beauty and safety of our campus and Riverside Sports facilities.
Key Responsibilities:- Maintenance of Grass and Artificial Turf Pitches:
- Mowing, aerating, feeding, and seeding of grass pitches.
- Line marking and setting up playing surfaces.
- Use of tractor-mounted brushes and collectors for maintenance of artificial pitches.
- Maintenance of Grounds:
- General garden maintenance, including planting, pruning, mowing, leaf blowing, mulching, and weeding.
- Winter gritting of campus and other sites to maintain staff and student safety.
- Routine driving and operation of tractors and other grounds maintenance machinery.
- Litter picking.
- Application of pesticides and herbicides.
- Maintenance of Machinery and Equipment:
- Greasing and lubricating of machines.
- Basic mechanic work.
- Requirements:
- Minimum of SQA level 2 Horticulture, greens keeping, or a related course.
- Experience of grounds maintenance and/or sports turf.
- Daily and annual tool and machinery maintenance.
- Working Hours: 35 hours per week.
- Annual Leave: 42 days.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in horticulture and grounds maintenance, with experience in large-scale amenity gardens and/or turf management.
