Senior Mechanical Quantity Surveyor Job Description

Dornan Engineering is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Quantity Surveyor to join our team on a Data Centre project in North London. As a leading Mechanical, Electrical, and Instrumentation contractor, we have projects in Ireland, Mainland Europe, and the UK across various sectors, including Pharmaceutical, Data Centre, Healthcare, Education, Commercial, and Power Generation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Validate tenders following project award with the Project Manager/Director
  • Assist in preparing project Cost Control Statements by analyzing tenders and project requirements
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts by analyzing billing and cost timing
  • Compile monthly reports in accordance with Group standard procedures
  • Conduct site measurements with Construction and Planning Teams in accordance with contractual procedures
  • Ensure timely submission of claims/notices in accordance with contract provisions
  • Highlight areas of concern related to contract costs, sales, and contribution
  • Attend monthly commercial and subcontractor meetings
  • Draft pre- and post-contract correspondence with the Project Manager/Director
  • Identify material purchases as scope or variations to the budget
  • Control client invoicing by submitting invoices and tracking payments
  • Administer payments to subcontractors and suppliers by reviewing submissions against contracts
  • Liaise with the Financial Department on project reporting and financials
  • Resolve disputes related to client/subcontractor issues
  • Prepare reports on commercial and contractual issues for Project and Commercial Managers
  • Monitor site procurement based on regular reports
Requirements:
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Construction Management, or equivalent
  • 5-10 years' experience in Quantity Surveying in the construction industry
  • Working towards chartership or professional Quantity Surveying Certification is desirable
  • Solid knowledge of Mechanical Systems
  • Data Centre experience is an advantage but not essential
