Senior Health and Safety Specialist

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at the Wellcome Sanger Institute. As a key member of our Campus Health and Safety team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our staff and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of health and safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on health and safety matters to staff and management.
- Collaborate with the Estates and Facilities team to ensure that all buildings and facilities are safe and compliant with relevant regulations.
- Develop and deliver training programs to enhance staff knowledge and skills in health and safety.
- Investigate incidents and near-misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
Requirements:
- Graduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., occupational health and safety, environmental health, etc.).
- Professional membership of a relevant health and safety organization (e.g., IOSH, CIEH, etc.).
- Proven experience in a health and safety leadership role, with a strong track record of implementing effective health and safety programs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and advise at all levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to delivering results.
