Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting thorough assessments and section 47 enquiries that accurately identify risk or need based on documented evidence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • To conduct assessments and section 47 enquiries that meet procedural requirements and clearly identify risk or need based on documented evidence.
  • To record and analyze information gathered during the assessment process in accordance with case recording policy, local and national guidance, and best practice principles.
  • To develop clear associated plans that address the issues identified for children in Doncaster.
  • Engage with children, their carers, and families to understand their circumstances, wishes, and feelings, and form conclusions directing longer-term intervention focused on the child's best interests.
  • To participate in the process of taking and recording children's contacts and referrals, contributing to achieving a full understanding of the issues being referred, the relative urgency, level of risk or need, and the action needed in individual cases.
  • Assist in preparing court statements and reports required by courts and bodies connected with children's services.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to provide social care advice and interventions across Doncaster Children's Services Trust and all agencies.
  • Prioritize tasks based on relative urgency/levels and types of risk and/or need, ensuring children are safe and their needs are met.
  • Take ownership of professional development, fully engaging with developmental supervision, critically evaluating own practice, and ensuring up-to-date understanding of emerging case law, research, and best practice guidance.

Requirements of this Role:

  • A Social Work Qualification or equivalent.
  • Continual professional development.
  • Social Work England registration.
