A Level Psychology Lecturer Job Description

We are seeking an experienced A Level Psychology Lecturer to join our team at a Sixth Form college in the North East. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching A Level Psychology to post-16 students and will have a strong passion for education and a commitment to delivering high-quality teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons to A Level Psychology students, using a range of teaching methods and resources.
  • Assess student work and provide constructive feedback to support student progress and achievement.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with students, colleagues and other stakeholders to ensure a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Contribute to the development of schemes of work, lesson plans and teaching resources to ensure a high-quality learning experience for students.
  • Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the development of the department's curriculum and assessment strategies.
Requirements:
  • Teaching qualification (e.g. AET, PTLLS, PGCE, certificate in education).
  • Level 3 or equivalent qualification in teaching subject area (Psychology).
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour and maintain a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Experience interacting with 16-19 year olds in education or apprentice setting.
  • Level 2 or equivalent in English and Maths.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Current Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one through Reed Compliance.
