Children's Residential Support Worker

Job Role
The Nest provides residential breaks for children aged 12-18 with learning disabilities and/or Autism, and additional support needs. We support children to have fun, learn skills, make choices, and be in a safe environment, allowing their families to have a break.
We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, able to work as part of a team providing high-quality care for the children and young people we support. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, ensuring the child's needs are paramount.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow care plans and keep them updated
- Work shift patterns as part of a rota
- Create factual reports
- Undertake training and put theory into practice
- Have a proactive approach to learning
- Communicate openly and honestly
- Organise and deliver new opportunities for recreational and social experiences
- Awareness of the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015
- Holds or willing to complete the Diploma level 3/4 in Children and Young People
- Awareness of the Mental Capacity Act 2005

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Council has a statutory duty to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
Interview Process
Candidates will be required to attend a two-day interview process, including a look around the unit and a formal interview. The interview will assess the candidate's ability to work with children and young people, their communication skills, and their ability to work as part of a team.
