About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Governance Support Specialist to join our team at Leeds City Council. As a Governance Support Specialist, you will provide administrative support to school governing bodies, ensuring that they are well-equipped to make informed decisions that benefit the education of children in Leeds.

Your primary responsibility will be to provide accurate and comprehensive minutes that evidence effective governance. You will also offer support and signpost development opportunities to governing boards, helping them to achieve their strategic goals.

As a Governance Support Specialist, you will work closely with our Governance Team to ensure that our schools are well-governed and that our students receive the best possible education. You will be responsible for up to ten schools and will attend approximately 50 meetings per year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to school governing bodies, including preparing agendas, minutes, and other documents.
  • Offer support and guidance to governing boards, helping them to understand their roles and responsibilities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with school leaders and governors, ensuring that they are well-informed and supported.
  • Work closely with our Governance Team to ensure that our schools are well-governed and that our students receive the best possible education.
  • Attend meetings and events as required, taking detailed notes and providing support to governing boards.

Requirements:

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Knowledge of governance procedures and regulations.
