About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Rights Sustainability Manager to join our team at New Look. As a key member of our sustainability team, you will play a critical role in driving our social sustainability initiatives and ensuring that our business practices align with our values and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement our social sustainability strategy, aligning it with our overarching sustainability objectives and values.
  • Define and contribute to the creation of country-specific strategies, focusing on monitoring ongoing regional challenges and trends, and enhancing factory conditions.
  • Cultivate relationships and oversee the global audit program with in-country partners.
  • Review critical risks and revise strategic priorities on a regular basis.
  • Propose and execute projects based on identified significant risks within our supply chain.
  • Assess and enhance the efficacy of social sustainability programs and initiatives, offering data-driven recommendations for continuous enhancement.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure compliance with ethical standards and social responsibility requirements.
  • Foster robust partnerships with ethical trade/sustainability managers at key suppliers to drive proactive involvement and enhancement of the supply base.
  • Supervise supplier setups and factory registrations, coordinating with the Sustainability Coordinator.
  • Implement an efficient system to monitor the performance of key suppliers monthly, analyze outcomes, and proactively strategize for improvement.
  • Update and uphold supplier manuals, regularly sharing updates on procedures and policies.
  • Advocate for New Look's interests within Industry initiatives and oversee relevant projects, managing relationships with campaign groups, NGOs, and other vital external stakeholders.
  • Lead the Modern Slavery Working Group, including planning, organization, and execution in collaboration with the Head of Sustainability.
  • Coordinate and supervise data systems and team reporting requirements, including the annual Sustainability Report, Modern Slavery Statement, Fashion Transparency Index, and Higg BRM.
  • Develop and administer effective training and communication initiatives (websites, newsletters, presentations) for our BMD and Technical teams regarding our Social Sustainability agenda in alignment with our strategy.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, occasionally representing New Look in engagements with external partnerships.
  • Create purchase orders and administrate invoices for memberships and projects.
  • Oversee the monitoring and updating of the monthly factory list and public factory data lists biannually.
  • Stay informed on industry advancements, including regulatory changes, presenting challenges, and solutions to wider teams to ensure adherence.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • Extensive experience in a business setting with a sound understanding of human rights, sustainability, the SDGs, and relevant international standards.
  • Profound knowledge of global human rights matters.
  • Prior experience in managing/mentoring/coaching roles.
  • Familiarity with in-country supplier visits and project management.
  • Background in a social sustainability position, preferably within a fashion retail environment, sustainability consultancy, or NGO.
  • Desirable exposure to conducting / shadowing social audits using various methodologies.
  • Ability to grasp intricate information and make informed decisions.
