Job Title: Product Quality Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Product Quality Specialist to join our team at Fortress Safety.

The estimated salary for this role is $80,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience and location. This figure is based on industry standards and requirements outlined in the job description.

Fortress Safety helps manufacturers navigate machinery safety requirements by delivering training and product solutions for safe machine access.

We support applications from automotive manufacturing to paper & pulp manufacturing to warehouse automation, driving growth in e-commerce.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee customer cases to ensure timely resolution through recognised problem-solving techniques.
  • Act as the first point of contact for Quality Assistance, addressing manufacturing, supply chain, and customer-related issues.
  • Maintain quality specification documentation within the quality system, including technical specifications, work instructions, procedures, and other necessary documents.
  • Provide guidance, review, and support on improvements to production and process controls, including ICAR and 8D processes.
  • Ensure timely Root Cause Analysis and provide support to the team as required.
  • Conduct internal audits according to the Internal audit schedule, supporting the Quality Manager in audit follow-up and closure of minor/major NCRs.
  • Review in-process and final product specifications to set quality requirements.
  • Participate in devising and implementing inspection, testing, and evaluation methods for raw materials, components, and finished products.
  • Share knowledge on advanced techniques to ensure assurance is designed into products and processes, including Design/Process FMEA, Statistical Process Control, Gauge R&R Studies, and Lean Six Sigma.
  • Analyse production and process data to identify trends and recommend improvements to reduce and control manufacturing process defects, identify key process indicators (KPIs).
  • Guide the development of verification and validation plans, test and sampling methods, sample size determination, and acceptance criteria.
  • Monitor and reduce internal scrap and rework, reporting KPIs monthly and as needed.
  • Provide quality perspective in support of design control and change control activities, including Stage Gate reviews.
  • Lead and/or participate in cross-functional teams for new product development, quality improvement, and cost savings projects.
  • Interact with other departments, suppliers, and customers regarding quality matters.
  • Be prepared to cover all areas of the business as required, including quality staff absence and planned leave.
