Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our animal welfare team and contribute to a project investigating welfare in racehorses.

The successful candidate will be responsible for using behavioural assessment techniques on commercial racing yards, engaging with stakeholders working in racing, and collaborating with the research team to achieve project goals.

This is a full-time position, but we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns. The University of Edinburgh offers a competitive salary of £33,882 - £39,105 per annum, depending on experience.

Requirements
  • A PhD in a relevant topic, such as veterinary medicine, animal behaviour, or animal science
  • Experience working with large animals, preferably horses
  • Familiarity with the UK racing industry and willingness to work in this environment
  • Previous experience working with diverse stakeholder groups
  • Some knowledge of research in animal behaviour or welfare is an advantage
