Job Title: Corporate Governance Specialist

Job Summary:

Triumph Consultants Ltd is seeking an experienced Corporate Governance Specialist to provide short-term corporate governance support to local authorities. As a Corporate Governance Specialist, you will utilise your knowledge of local government constitutional and administrative law to advise on the legal requirements and limitations of a committee system of governance.

Key Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Advising on the legal requirements and limitations of a committee system of governance (including area committees).
  • Advising on the legal requirements of the Council's constitution and contributing to a review of the constitution.
  • Contributing to/advising on/reviewing/drafting policy documents and protocols connected with the operation of the constitution and the committee system.

Requirements:

To be successful as a Corporate Governance Specialist, you will need to possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • A Law Society admitted and Solicitor Regulatory Authority registered solicitor, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives or Bar Standards Board registered barrister.
  • Familiarity with the modern committee system would be a definite advantage.

Working Arrangements:

This is a short-term contract, expected to last 3-4 months. You will work 37 hours per week, Monday-Friday, normal working hours, with some flexibility to attend meetings as required.
