Job Title: Reading and Literacy Support Assistant

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Reading and Literacy Support Assistant to join our team at Teaching Personnel. As a Reading and Literacy Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with their reading skills, both on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with their reading skills, both on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
  • Develop and deliver tailored support plans for students, in line with their individual needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to monitor student progress and adjust support plans as necessary.
  • Provide feedback to teachers on student progress and areas for improvement.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of literacy interventions and initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Act as a positive role model for students, promoting positive behaviour and a love of learning.

Requirements:

  • Experience of working with young people in an educational setting.
  • A good standard of education, including GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • Strong literacy skills, with the ability to support students in developing their reading skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents.
  • A patient and empathetic approach, with the ability to support students who may have additional learning needs.
  • The ability to speak another language (particularly Arabic or Urdu) would be an advantage but is not essential.
