Job Title: KS3 Literacy Support Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate KS3 Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team at a secondary school in Stretford. The successful candidate will work closely with Year 7 students to support their reading skills and foster a love for literature.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the English department to create and implement reading programs that cater to the diverse needs of students.
  • Provide individualized support to Year 7 students who require assistance with reading comprehension, fluency, and vocabulary development.
  • Assist in the organization and maintenance of the school's library, ensuring that it is a welcoming and resourceful space for students.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of literacy events, such as book fairs, author visits, and reading challenges.
  • Monitor and assess students' progress in reading, keeping detailed records and communicating effectively with teachers and parents.

Requirements:

  • A passion for literature and a strong belief in the importance of fostering reading skills in young people.
  • Experience working with secondary school students in an educational or mentoring capacity.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • An understanding of different teaching strategies and resources that can support students' reading development.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education, literacy support, or a related field would be advantageous.
