We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Watford, Hertfordshire. As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for efficiently managing project budgets, administering tender processes, and collaborating with clients, developers, and contractors to achieve project goals.

Our client is a renowned construction consultancy firm that prides itself on delivering excellence and reliability. They stand as trusted partners to key stakeholders in the construction industry, collaborating seamlessly with end users, developers, contractors, and sub-contractors both pre and post contract.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of construction projects, including residential and commercial developments. You will be responsible for:

  • Managing project budgets and ensuring cost efficiency throughout the project lifecycle
  • Administering tender processes and construction contracts, evaluating variations, and negotiating settlements
  • Leading procurement activities, including tendering and contractor/subcontractor selection
  • Carrying out early-stage cost plans and estimates or managing the delivery of detailed cost plans and bills as required by our clients
  • Maintaining strong client relationships and providing regular project updates
  • Chairing project meetings and reporting to key stakeholders

We are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor with:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field
  • RICS chartered status or equivalent professional qualification
  • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in quantity surveying (PQS or Contractor) in the UK
  • Sound knowledge of construction contracts, especially JCT, cost management, and procurement
  • Experience of contract administration and take-offs and measurement using industry-recognised software
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools (Excel, CAD measurement software) with a willingness to learn new skills
