Job Title: SEN Support Assistant

Location: Newcastle & North Tyneside

Job Type: Full-Time

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Support Assistant to join our team in a school in Newcastle. As a SEN Support Assistant, you will provide individualized support to children with autism and other special needs, helping them to succeed academically and personally.

Responsibilities:

  • Nurture and support pupils to build strong, positive relationships.
  • Assist children with Autism, Asperger's, ADHD, and other SEN needs in their lessons.
  • Implement practical strategies to engage and motivate pupils, providing emotional and behavioral support as needed.
  • Assist children during lunch times, ensuring they feel included and supported.
  • Apply rules consistently, show fairness, and use excellent de-escalation skills to create a calm and positive learning environment.

Requirements:

  • Experience or interest in SEN.
  • Resilience and adaptability.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Curriculum knowledge and understanding of EYFS and/or KS1.
