We are seeking a highly skilled Review Officer to join our team in Enfield, working closely with a Local Authority to assist with the appointment of a Review Officer - Housing, on a 3-month contract, with a high likelihood of extension. The successful candidate will be responsible for minimizing legal costs related to threatened or actual court action, monitoring and preparing reports for the Head of Service and members, and arranging and attending meetings with external agencies and local authorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To ensure that legal costs are minimized in relation to threatened/actual court action.
  • To monitor and prepare reports for the Head of Service and members, on performance in respect of decision reviews and court cases.
  • To arrange and attend meetings and case conferences both internal and with external agencies/other local authorities concerning the work of the section.
  • To deal with complex correspondence and sensitive issues, e.g. Members/ MPs enquiries, complaints.
  • To highlight anomalies/irregularities in the Allocations Scheme(as part of the annual review), homelessness and accommodation procedures, that arise from appeals in order to minimize the risk to the council of court action
  • To obtain medical reports from GPs/ Consultants and to get recommendations from the in-house medical advisers, the Mental Health Assessment Panel or an independent consultant for the purpose of investigating a review.

Requirements:

  • Good standard of education
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
