About the Role

Practice Plus Group, a leading provider of NHS services to over 40,000 patients in secure environments, is seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our integrated Mental Health team at HMP Five Wells.

This challenging yet rewarding role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and be supported by a second Psychiatrist who serves as our national psychiatry lead.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality clinical care, assessment, and treatment to patients on-site.
  • Participate in strategic direction-setting for the mental health service, lead senior mental health clinicians on service developments, and provide clinical supervision.
  • Work within the multi-disciplinary team to review referrals, determine appropriate treatment plans, conduct risk assessments, and engage in complex case reviews.

This part-time position offers either 2 or 3 working days per week, with shifts based between Monday and Friday, 9am-5pm. The annual salary for this role, depending on experience, can reach up to £180,000 per annum FTE.

Candidates must have a legal right to work in the UK and undergo additional vetting and security checks due to the nature of the role.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

  • Registration with the GMC and specialist registration in General Adult or Forensic Psychiatry.
  • Approval under section 12 (2) of the MHS 1983.
  • Understanding of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working.
  • Up-to-date knowledge in adult psychiatry and PD.
  • Awareness of current issues in mental health service provision, policy, and legislation.
