Harbour Engineer

We are seeking an experienced engineer to join our Harbour and Waterways team and support the ongoing maintenance of Harbour assets and the historic Exeter Canal.
The successful candidate will have previous experience of working within the construction sector, with a strong understanding of asset management, project management, and working with contractors.
They will be responsible for managing their own workload to deliver asset management projects, planning their time to meet seasonal restrictions and priorities, and working closely with other team members in project delivery.
The role will involve overseeing the delivery of a range of asset maintenance, repair, and refurbishment projects across the Exeter Port Authority area, including the Exe Estuary, Exeter Ship Canal, and Exeter Quay.
The Harbour Master will provide guidance on operational needs and priorities, and the successful candidate will be responsible for producing and agreeing project scopes, stakeholder consultation, project planning, and procurement of suppliers.
The role will also involve working closely with the Council's Engineering and Asset Management Team, as well as the procurement and finance teams.
About the TeamThe Harbour and Waterways Team is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Exeter Canal and discharging the Council's duties as the Harbour Authority.
The successful candidate will be part of this team and will work closely with other team members to deliver projects and support the Harbour Master.
