About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Harbour and Waterways Engineer to join our team at Exeter City Council. As a key member of our Harbour and Waterways team, you will be responsible for managing Harbour assets and the historic Exeter Canal.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Harbour assets and the Exeter Canal, ensuring their maintenance, repair, and refurbishment projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Work closely with the Harbour Master, the Harbour and Waterways Team, and the Council's Engineering and Asset Management Team to ensure effective project delivery.
  • Develop and implement project plans, taking into account seasonal restrictions and stakeholder consultation.
  • Oversee asset maintenance, repair, and refurbishment projects in the Exeter Port Authority area, including the Exe Estuary, Exeter Ship Canal, and Exeter Quay.
  • Collaborate with team members and other Council service areas to achieve project goals.
  • Ensure strong interpersonal and communication skills are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements:

  • Experience in the construction sector, asset management, project management, and working with Contractors.
  • Knowledge of Harbour operations and the Marine and Maritime sector is a plus.
  • Experience in environmentally sensitive locations and designated sites is beneficial.
