Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Planning and Analysis Specialist to join our team at the University System of New Hampshire. As a key member of our finance division, you will play a critical role in providing expert support for financial planning, budgeting, and analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Financial Planning and Analysis: Collaborate with finance leadership to develop and monitor unit operating budgets, strategic plans, and financial management at the system office.
  2. Financial Expertise: Provide expert support for financial planning, budgeting, and analysis, including forecasting, planning, monitoring, and adjusting unit budgets.
  3. Business Partnership: Serve as a front-line business partner to unit and institutional financial leaders, providing tailored customer service and expert support for financial activities.
  4. Financial Transactions: Review, approve, and advise on financial transactions, reconciling errors and discrepancies, and liaising with departments to ensure business processes are completed promptly and correctly.
  5. Financial Systems: Maintain knowledge of USNH systems, policies, and procedures related to budget operations, and perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree: In a relevant field, such as finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Professional Experience: 3 or more years of professional experience in a field related to finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Financial Knowledge: Detailed knowledge of basic accounting principles, budget planning and monitoring, and financial analysis.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in navigating computerized financial systems, including Workday and Adaptive Planning.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent mathematical, organizational, and analytical skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and accurately, both verbally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree: An advanced degree related to accounting or finance is preferred.
  • Training and Onboarding: Experience training and onboarding employees on financial-related duties is preferred.
  • Shared Service Experience: Experience operating in a shared service setting is preferred.
  • Tax-Exempt Experience: Experience working for a tax-exempt organization is preferred.
