Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Emergency Medicine to join our team at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert clinical advice and treatment to patients with emergency problems attending our Emergency Department.

Main Duties

The post holder will be required to supervise a team of junior medical staff and work to the Consultant on call rota. This will involve sharing responsibility for the delivery of emergency medicine services with other Emergency Medicine Consultants. The successful candidate will also be expected to continue to review and develop the service, in partnership with the existing consultants and management team, to meet the requirements of the local population and standards of care within the Emergency Department.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in emergency medicine, with experience of supervising undergraduates, junior doctors, and other staff. They will also have knowledge of the principles of research and audit, and be able to interpret and apply clinical research to improve patient care. The successful candidate will be able to take full and independent responsibility for delivering the service without direct supervision.
