Reed is seeking a highly skilled Financial Controller to join their team in Huntingdon. This role will play a pivotal part in financial management and business decision support at their head office.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Producing monthly management accounts and financial reporting packs, including variance analysis and commentaries.
  • Handling monthly journals and balance sheet reconciliations, supporting the preparation of group accounts and analysis.
  • Reviewing and coding financial transactions for capital expenditure and intercompany processing.
  • Assisting in annual budget preparation and periodic forecasting.
  • Providing support to business divisions in project appraisal, evaluation, and post-implementation analysis.
  • Maintaining and improving management accounting processes and systems.
  • Regularly reviewing business division processes and data capture methods, proposing improvements to enhance financial reporting and analysis.
  • Responding to ad hoc information requests from various departments to a high standard.
  • Becoming a subject matter expert for the relevant business division, proactively obtaining information.
  • Supporting the year-end audit process by assisting with information gathering and process explanations.
  • Assisting other finance departments with general queries regarding GL coding, systems, and division-specific queries.

Requirements:

  • ACA/CIMA/ACCA qualification with a minimum of 2 years' experience in an accounts production role within a commercial environment.
  • Proven ability to produce an accurate set of accounts with strong technical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with strong commercial acumen.
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with the confidence and competence to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work under instruction and independently when necessary.
  • Highly organised and capable of working in a fast-paced, pressurised environment.
  • Effective communicator and relationship builder, able to address concerns or issues with senior management.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry and experience with group companies (desirable).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics & COINS software (desirable).
