  • Log picture as required, ensuring accurate and timely documentation

  • Research, locate, and negotiate the acquisition of stills and video material within budget, ensuring high-quality content for TV and digital platforms
  • SOURCE and secure video and other content from social media for TV and digital output, staying up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies
  • Field queries and facilitate special commissions, providing excellent customer service and ensuring a positive experience for guests and contributors
  • Find and research stories, securing filming opportunities and ensuring a strong narrative for Channel 5 News
  • Ensure liaison with the ITV News and Channel 4 News news desks and ITN Productions to ensure 5 News is across all content and deployments, avoiding duplications in assignments
  • Identify and create opportunities for digital content, working with the news desk, planning team, and Digital Editor to deliver engaging and informative content
  • Understand the importance of fast, accurate, and detailed logging of material, ensuring absolute compliance with ITN policy on clip coding
  • Liaise with the rostering team about the availability of newsgathering staff, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources
  • Act up to the role of Deputy News Editor on occasion, demonstrating leadership and initiative
