About the Role:

As a Technical Design Specialist, you will be responsible for converting design intent drawings into worktable technical drawings for joinery manufacture. You will work closely with designers and architects to ensure that your designs meet their requirements and specifications. Your primary responsibility will be to create detailed and accurate technical drawings using AutoCAD software.

Responsibilities:

  • Update and maintain a library of templates, blocks, and layouts to ensure efficiency and consistency in your work.
  • Collaborate with the operations manager to hand-over production-ready works and discuss design details and materials specifications.
  • Create production drawings from signed-off CAD drawings, converting them into DXF files for CNC manufacture when necessary.
  • Upload project drawings onto online portals as a matter of record, ensuring that all signed-off drawings are issued as 'Construction Issue'.
  • Work closely with clients to achieve sign-off on CAD drawings, communicating effectively to ensure their requirements are met.
  • Maintain accurate records of drawing revisions, detailing changes on the right-hand side of the 'paperspace' layout.
  • Meet deadlines and communicate with the project manager if deadlines cannot be met, providing ample notice.
  • Provide clear and timely information to facilitate CAD drawing, listing any required data and issuing it to the project manager or coordinator.
  • Source accurate and detailed site surveys, assisting the project manager or coordinator in this process.
  • Organize and store prepared AutoCAD drawings in the correct folders, setting up and using drawing numbers for each project.

About You:

To succeed in this role, you will need to have a strong background in joinery and cabinetry, as well as excellent technical design skills. Experience with AutoCAD software is essential, and you should be able to work efficiently and accurately to meet deadlines. Your strong communication and teamwork skills will enable you to collaborate effectively with designers, architects, and clients to deliver high-quality results.
