Cardiac Catheter Lab Staff Nurse Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Cardiac Catheter Lab Staff Nurse to join our team at the Royal Brompton Hospital. As a key member of our Cath Lab team, you will be responsible for working as a scrub and circulating nurse in all Adult and Paediatric Interventional Cardiology procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- To be responsible for the continuing professional development and overall performance of all staff by acting as a mentor with the support of their senior colleagues.
- To take part in the on-call / out of hours rota on a regular basis.
- The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care with direct supervision and is required to demonstrate procedures, supervise qualified and/or unqualified staff whilst maintaining a safe working environment.
- To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area.
- To work in all areas of the Catheter Lab suite including the Hybrid Theatre.
- Scrub and assist the cardiologist for all cath lab procedures to a competent level.
- Ensure that nursing documentation is maintained to the Trust standard (including electronic records).
- Participate in conducting nursing audits to achieve the agreed standards.
The Royal Brompton Hospital invasive cardiology suites are comprised of 5 cardiac catheter labs, and a hybrid theatre, providing you the opportunity to work at the forefront of cardiac research & treatment.
Procedure Highlights:
- Diagnostic cardiac angiography;
- Device implants including Bi-ventricular pacemakers (CRT-P & -D), Subcutaneous ICDs and implantable defibrillators;
- A full range of diagnostic & interventional procedures for paediatric and adult patients with congenital heart disease;
- Other Hybrid, including TEVAR/EVAR;
- Other Interventional Radiology.
In partnership with other professionals provide excellent patient care. This process should include assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care in accordance with the Trust policies. Following training and reaching a satisfactory level of competence, will operate medical equipment pertaining to the Cath Lab.
