Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in our school. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to provide individualized support and create a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support children's development, including physical, emotional, social, communication, and intellectual development needs
  • Help maintain a safe environment, deal with accidents, and support safeguarding
  • Encourage positive behavior and contribute to positive relationships with children and adults
  • Provide effective support for colleagues and contribute to maintaining pupil records
  • Support learning across the curriculum, including English and Mathematics, and assist with the use of technology
  • Observe and report on performance, escort and supervise pupils on educational visits, and invigilate tests and examinations
Requirements
  • Good understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and the Graduated Response
  • Experience working with children with communication and interaction difficulties and understanding of the value in using visual resources
  • Experience delivering interventions, such as working memory, zones of regulation, and executive functioning activities
  • Knowledge about ASD and ADHD, and how to support children with these conditions
  • Familiarity with the TEACCH approach to learning for children with ASD
  • Deep understanding of behavior and strategies to prevent and manage episodes of negative behavior
