Senior Buyer Job Description

Currys is seeking a highly skilled Senior Buyer to join our commercial team. As a Senior Buyer, you will be responsible for leading the procurement process for our Small Domestic Appliances category, working closely with our suppliers to negotiate the best possible deals and ensuring that our customers receive the best products at the best prices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the procurement process for the Small Domestic Appliances category, including negotiating with suppliers and managing contracts.
  • Work closely with the Go To Market team to ensure that our product ranges and promotions are aligned with customer needs and market trends.
  • Develop and implement strategies to drive sales and profitability, including identifying opportunities for cost savings and improving product quality.
  • Manage and coach direct reports to deliver category targets and ensure compliance with commercial critical path and processes.
  • Collaborate with the category planner to secure supplier support to drive additional sales and margin where opportunity for upside exists.
  • Remedy all supplier issues relating to cost price, product, stock, financial claims, contractual issues and other.

Requirements:

  • Substantial buying experience working within a FMCG/Fashion or Hard Goods fast-paced retailer.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills to review data and provide recommendations/actions plans to drive sales, profit and cash.
  • Customer champion with excellent commercial awareness and understanding of customer needs.
  • Good working knowledge of SharePoint, Teams, Excel, Word and PowerPoint as well as MS Office workflow tools.
